ATALANTA

Atalanta in Greek mythology was known as a famous huntress, abandoned as a child and suckled by a bear and then brought up by hunters. Most famous for the lengths she went to to avoid marriage. Her husband must first beat her in a race and any man who lost would be put to death. Melanion tricked her into delay by placing three golden apples along the course. She stopped three times and he won the race.
